Boudoir Photography San Diego | Tip Tuesday

Welcome to Tip Tuesday!

This Tip Tuesday is brought to you by Shannon with Jamberry. Here’s her TIP and her STORY…

Do you want your manicure to last? The most important step in getting a lasting manicure is often the most forgotten: nail prep! Your nails produce their own natural oils that prevent polish from sticking around for more than a couple days. So before you start painting, give those hands a good washing with soap and water (I like to use a drop of Dawn dish soap to cut the grease), giving special attention to those nails. Dry your hands and push back your cuticle. Grab a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol and clean your nails once more really well. Allow them to dry completely and you’ll be ready for a manicure that’ll go on better and stay on longer!

My name is Shannon Caustin. I’m a follower of Christ, a wife to the most wonderful man, a mother of two beautiful daughters, a sister to seven amazing siblings, and an independent consultant for Jamberry.

I was blessed with the incredible opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom when I was pregnant with my second daughter almost two years ago. The experience has been, well… exhausting. I have to admit that I had this romanticized idea of spending days at the beach whenever I wanted, keeping the house clean, preparing healthy meals, working out, hanging out with other moms all the time; pretty much all the things I made an excuse not to do while I was working. Don’t get me wrong, it’s incredibly rewarding and I wouldn’t change it for the world, but it didn’t take long for me to realize that pouring myself into two tiny humans 24-7 has been probably the most difficult and draining thing I’ve ever done in my life.

I think many of us moms go through a period where we feel like there’s nothing left of us outside of being “just a mom.” I know that was the case for me. I didn’t have a job or a hobby or anything that really made me feel like I was part of the “real world.”

My dear friend, Monica invited me to a party at her place one evening last November and that’s where I was introduced to Jamberry. I was intrigued by the fun designs that were available with the nail wraps, but the thing that really caught my attention was the idea of being able to do my own gel manicure at home without having to go to the salon and spend a bunch of money every few weeks. I got the gel right then and there and have been obsessed ever since.

In February, Monica asked me to join her team and become a consultant for Jamberry since I loved the products so much. At the time, I thought I’d just buy the kit and use the discount for my own orders. I really wasn’t interested in trying to sell anything. But after a couple months, I realized how different I felt when I had my nails done. I know it sounds silly, but having my nails done made me feel like I had permission to dress a little nicer and maybe throw on some makeup… it just made me feel like a real person again.

In May, I finally decided to jump in with both feet and really give it a chance. I’ve been an independent consultant for three months and it has changed my life! Jamberry has given me a confidence in myself that I haven’t experienced in a long time. I’m accomplishing so much. I’m helping other women find their own confidence, express their unique personalities, be creative, find financial independence, and have fun doing it! Jamberry has become much more than a job for me; it’s a ministry.
