Is Boudoir Porn | How to Explain to Your Mother that You’re Not a Pornstar

Is Boudoir Porn?

Scenario: your mom is questioning, ‘Is Boudoir Porn’?

“You can’t be serious? You’re not really having do that photo shoot in a bra, right? What is this ‘boudoir’ thing anyway? It sounds so… sexy… And you are definitely not going to be wearing that little black dress. How do I explain to the neighbors… ”

Help Her Understand

The first thing to do is to explain that boudoir photography is not porn. It’s not even close. Boudoir photos are meant to empower women, to celebrate their beauty and sexuality, and to help them feel confident in their own skin.

Boudoir Photography is a Healing Journey

Boudoir photography is also an amazing healing journey for women. It is an opportunity for them to connect with their bodies in a new way, learn about themselves and what makes them feel sexy, explore their sexuality and learn how to love themselves more fully.

The experience can be life changing for many women who go through it. They leave the photo shoot feeling more confident about their bodies, more comfortable with expressing themselves sexually and more empowered than ever before!

Mom’s Are Smart

Your mom is a smart woman, and she knows that there are a lot of things in life that can make you feel good about yourself. But she may not know what boudoir photography is and why it can be so beneficial for you.

Or maybe she does, but she’s still worried about it.

No matter the reason for her concerns, the best way to address them is by being honest — with yourself first and foremost — and then with her.

If you want to try boudoir photography or other self-love activities like it, here are some things to keep in mind when talking to your mom:

Boudoir photography isn’t just a photo shoot or way to boost your self-confidence — it’s a healing journey as well. Melisa Ford Boudoir understand this better than anyone else because they were once in your shoes! They know how difficult it can be to be in front of a camera, especially when you’re wearing lingerie. They know how hard it is to feel beautiful when you don’t think you are anymore. And they know how empowering it feels when someone actually sees you for who

Why Women Choose to get Boudoir Photos Taken

There are many reasons why women choose to get boudoir photos taken. Some of us want to celebrate our bodies and all the wonderful things they can do for us. Others want to celebrate their self love or a big life change, like getting married or having a baby. Some women want to get their sexy back after experiencing a trauma or losing weight.

I’ve had clients tell me they want their boudoir photos as an affirmation that they’re beautiful and deserve to feel sexy. Other clients have told me their goal is to show the world that they are not ashamed of who they are anymore.

If you need some better ideas for explaining why you want boudoir photography, here are a few:

1) “I know I look good in these clothes, but I don’t look good in anything else” (if you really love your body)

2) “I just want one day where I can feel confident and powerful again” (if you feel ashamed of your body)

3) “I want my husband/boyfriend/partner to be proud of me” (if this is an anniversary gift for him)

Talking Points

  • Explain to your mother, who loves you unconditionally, that you are going to invest in yourself, and you’re looking forward to this experience.
  • Explain to your mother, who has asked so much of you all of your life, that you feel like it’s time for her to give back, and support you and honor this choice.
  • Explain to your mother, who is probably concerned that there is an ex lurking around the corner somewhere, that this is all about YOU and YOUR needs and your desires.
  • Explain to her that she has been a good mom! And she has nothing to worry about. She gave you this awesome body! And now she can be proud of it!
  • Explain to your mother that boudoir photography is not porn. It’s not at all about sexual availability. It’s about exploring the many sides of yourself and loving them ALL.
  • Explain to your mother that this is a journey about self love and self acceptance. And show her the pictures so she can see for herself!
  • There are lots of ways to show your mom what a boudoir session can be like.

Whether you choose to share your experience or not, the truth of the matter is that boudoir photography is liberating, empowering and an incredible way to look back on yourself and love yourself! As long as we each find ourselves loving every aspect of ourselves, boudoir is a gift to yourself. You deserve it!
