“If we don’t change, we don’t grow. And if we don’t grow, we aren’t really living.” – Gail Sheehy
For the past 3+ years I’ve been on a journey like none other in my 38 years on this earth. I’ve been through incredible ups and downs, and made it through some of the most joyous and painful times in my life. Becoming a mother has of coursed changed me, but it has also motivated me to WANT to change. To want more. To be more…for my kids.
In June of 2011 we found out we were finally pregnant, after trying for quite some time. I was on top of the world. Something I had wanted for so long had finally come true! THEN….in the beginning of August, we found out we were having TWINS!
This CHANGED everything. No one, unless you are a mom of multiples, could possible ever understand the mental and emotional struggle that a woman goes through when learning this news, and ultimately having to adjust everything you had ever prepared for or thought was going to happen in this time.
Of course it all worked out in the end and we welcomed 2 healthy boys on February 12, 2013. And then, as if our lives weren’t crazy enough, we decided to add a 3rd boy just 18 months later!
So, you see, I’ve been a little busy. I’ve been tending to these 3 beautiful, needy, loving, smart, amazing little humans for the last 3 years. It’s been a blessing. But last year I decided it was time to get back on track with what I hold near and dear to my heart – my identity as a strong, confidant woman – being a photographer.
Part of the CHANGE that has happened recently is a total business overhaul. Including a new name; finally switching my business name over to my married name, a new website, and a re-branding process.
So I also decided that it was about time to update photos of ME! I’m so lucky to have a great friend who knows her way around a camera like nobody’s business! So here is the result of a fun afternoon at Orfila Winery in Escondido, trampling around in the vineyards, smashing myself into a bougainvillea plant, and laughing the whole time!
It really does something for the mind and the soul to feel good in front of the camera, for a change. The resulting images are a fresh start for my new brand and a new ME!
