Boudoir Photography FAQ’s
Don’t see your question on here? Get in touch so we can help you!
Q: How far in advance should I book?
A: Since I am a boutique studio, and only accept a very limited number of sessions per month, I recommend booking 3-6 months in advance, which will help you save for your products by setting up a Pre-Payment Plan! I typically have my calendar open 6 months out and do not book out further in advance than that. If you have a specific date in mind farther out than 6 months, please CONTACT ME. Q: I’m not a size 2, is boudoir for me?
A: You might be surprised to hear that many of my clients are moms, over the age of 30, and definitely NOT a size 2, or even a 10! Posing & lighting for everyBODY is my specialty.
Q: Do you share all of my images on the internet?
A: Absolutely not! I only share images that my clients sign a release for allowing me to share. There are different levels of sharing too. You can choose to share only anonymous images. You can choose to share publicly. Or you can keep your images completely private.
Q: How long does it take to get my products?
A: After your products are paid in full it typically takes about 3-4 weeks, however some products can take up to 6 weeks, which is why I recommend planning your session well in advance.
Q: Is hair & makeup included with the session fee?
A: YES! I have an amazing team of professional hair + makeup artists! Makeup includes false lashes.
Q: Where are you located?
A: Your luxury boudoir experience takes place in my gorgeous, natural-light studio in Valley Center, CA, which is conveniently located just minutes from interstate 15 & Hwy 76.
Q: I don’t know what to wear. Can you help me with that?
A: Absolutely! We have a full client closet ranging from XS-3X. We provide an extensive lingerie guide, and provide wardrobe consultation and styling so that you can shop for your own pieces! It’s really not as scary as it seems.
Q: I’m not a model, so I don’t know how to pose. Do you help with that?
A: 100%. All of my clients are REAL WOMEN, just like you! I take care of the posing right down to your fingertips. By the end of your session, you might just FEEL like a supermodel!
Q: Do you photograph men or couples boudoir?
A: Not at this time.
Q: I never wear lingerie/ don’t think it looks good on me…what do I do?
A: Many of my clients feel this way. My suggestion is to go into a lingerie store (like Honey Birdette in La Jolla), to get support from knowledgeable staff and try on a variety of pieces. Once you get the hang of it and figure out what you like/ what fits best, then you can try some online shopping. And remember, you don’t have to wear lingerie for every set! Bring in a pair of your favorite jeans, an oversized sweater, a white tank, body jewelry, etc!
Q: Who will be at my session?
A: Your boudoir session is a closed event, meaning that only the makeup artist will be there to get you ready and then me for the entirety of your session.
Q: How long will the session last?
A: Hair and makeup is about 1 hour + your session is about 2 hours. Then we break for lunch while I edit your images. And then your view and order session lasts about 1 hour. You can expect your boudoir experience to take 4-5 hours.
Q: What if I don’t like my images?
A: Honestly, this doesn’t happen! It never has! You can rest assure with my 20+ years of experience photographing women + the time and detail we put into each individual session, making it unique to you, you will actually have a harder time finding images you don’t like!
Q: Will you photoshop me?
A: We happily offer retouching on all our photos, which includes overall skin smoothing, evening out uneven skin tone, and removing a stray hairs. We also fix what I call “minor wardrobe malfunctions”, which means we even out areas where the lingerie is cutting into the skin, etc. We do not, however, provide any body sculpting or more extensive forms of retouching. You simply don’t need it! My motto: if it’s a permanent part of your body, it stays, if it’s a temporary imperfection, it goes. If you have a specific need or retouching question – just ask!
Q: I REALLY want to do a session, but I’m not sure what I’ll do with the images! Help!
A: The best part about boudoir is the experience itself, and then once you see your beautiful images THAT becomes the best part. But…by far the BESTEST part is seeing those images printed! Having gorgeous images of yourself in print is absolutely the culmination of this whole experience. My portrait products are catered to every personality from extremely private to the bold and brave. You’ll find something you absolutely love!
Q: I am a bride, what do you recommend doing for a grooms gift?
A: Congratulations! Most of my brides opt for an album to gift to their groom either the night before or during the first look — you’ll get some FUN images with this! Another super fun option is my viewfinder, which is a bit more secretive and is also makes for super cute pictures during your first look.
